During our stay at APA Hotel in Sapporo from March 9th to 13th, we were pleasantly surprised by several aspects of our experience. The spaciousness of the room was a standout feature, providing ample space for our family to relax and unwind comfortably. Despite the hotel's older aesthetic, its cleanliness added to the charm, evoking a sense of nostalgia and old-school vibes. The reception staff left a lasting impression with their impeccable hospitality. Their consistent politeness and warm greetings, even during late-night arrivals, made us feel truly valued as guests. Additionally, the provision of heaters in the lobby added a cozy touch, welcoming us back from chilly outings in the city. One delightful surprise was the welcome drink provided by the hotel, featuring sparkling Japanese sake. This thoughtful gesture added a touch of luxury to our arrival and set the tone for a memorable stay.

Eatery-near to my boy's famous ramen stall - iichiran, right across the hotel. Room-The room is very big with a big sitting area , value for money. Clean and well maintain. Location - Not far from jr station, we took a cab from jr station to hotel cost around yen1000-1200. There is a 711 store next to the hotel. Staff - very helpful and friendly especially 森内 He has been very patient to help us to arrange for luggage transfer to Narita airport hotel. My opinion - We have been to Hokkaido more than 10 times and this hotel exceeded our expectations with the price we paid. We stayed at Mercure , Keio , JR inn, Raymond and JR tower . If you don't mind the building looks old , U need a big room you may consider this hotel The room is well kept .

We always choose to stay at an APA hotel while in Japan because we know all the amenities are available and the rooms are clean and comfortable. However the room at the particular APA was exceptionally larger than the others we stayed in which was a huge plus. Also, the location was excellent! The train station was a 5 minute walk away. The streetcar was across the street. Ramen Alley was nearby and so were many beautiful parks. Odori Park, the Sapporo clock, radio tower and shopping were only a short walk away. Sapporo Station was not that far away either. In fact we opted to walk back to the hotel several times from Sapporo Station just because there's so much to see.

The room was extremely spacious when compared to other APA facilities. Very useful desk and couch, extra rooms for bathtub and toilet. However, the best for younger travelers is the location in Susukino. It is a five-minute walk to the well-known crossing, to combinis and cocono. Plus, it makes very good evening strolls since it is in safe-but-lively Susukino with plenty of food options around. While I was there, the town closed some roads south from Susukino Cocono and put out benches for BBQ and a matsuri at the weekend. The good thing of the hotel location is that this was in 5-min walking distance but out of hearing range.

I accidentally booked a smoking room… it’s kind of buried in all of the other booking information when making a reservation. However, when we got there they would not let us change to a non smoking room :( Other than that it was a very pleasant stay- very close to transit and walking distance to lots of fun things to do. We could not find the thermostat for the room, so had to crack a window (indoor spaces are kept very hot in Japan), which was mostly sufficient in keeping the room cool enough and circulating some air (we also bought a little air freshener thing that helped a lot)
